The Colugo brand has been changing the way parents shop for baby gear. In their own words: Colugo is a baby gear brand founded and led by parents for parents. Our super functional and stylish strollers, baby carriers and accessories help parents to feel more confident taking on the adventure of parenthood. Every feature on our products is parent-tested and approved, and our Customer Experience team is ready and happy to help parents every step of the way. 

The Colugo story

Founded by married couple Ted and Christy in 2017 to serve the needs of their newborn twins, Colugo’s strollers and baby carriers have gained a loyal following in large part because they’re designed by parents, for parents.

Finding the perfect brand name is a process, and Ted and Christy went through quite a few before landing on Colugo. The couple wanted to create a company that would bring parents together as a community (“Co”) and inspire them to get out and go take on the adventure of parenthood (“Go!”). When the pair discovered the Colugo, an animal that can soar long distances and whose mothers create baby carriers out of their wings, they knew they had found the name for their brand. 

When asked why they chose to leverage SC Conjured Referrals, the founders responded “Setting up a referral program was a no-brainer for us. As parents ourselves, we know that parents rely on recommendations from other parents they trust when it comes to buying baby gear. And, we know that parents love to talk about the gear that works for them and to help other parents by sharing a discount code.”

The baby brand decided that for their referral program, they would encourage parents to send their friends $20 off given that many parents love to share their baby gear finds with their friends. 

This is a great example of a company putting serious thought into what will works best both for their customer, and their strategic business design, rather than simply copying a cookie-cutter template. The rest, as they say, is history.
