How to Build Smarter Shopify Forms with Advanced Conditional Logic
Hulk Form Builder's new Advanced Conditional Logic turns your forms from static questionnaires into dynamic, interactive conversations that adapt to every user.
3 minutes, 47 seconds
Are your forms just a list of static questions? It's time to transform them into smart, dynamic conversations that adapt to every user. We're excited to introduce Advanced Conditional Logic, a new feature now available for all Hulk Form Builder Pro and Pro+ users!
What Is Advanced Conditional Logic?
Simply put, Advanced Conditional Logic lets you create forms that react to user input in real-time based on multiple rules at once.
The old way was limited: "If a user chooses X, then show Y." This was great for simple tasks but fell short for more complex needs.
Now, you can control the user's journey with sophisticated logic, ensuring they only see questions and fields that are perfectly relevant to their specific answers. It turns a standard form into a personalized experience.
What’s New: The 'AND' & 'OR' Operators
At the heart of this upgrade are two powerful operators that give you full control over your form's behavior.
AND Logic: For Precision Targeting
The AND operator requires all specified conditions to be met before an action occurs. This is perfect for zeroing in on a specific type of customer or situation.
How it works: Show this field only if the user answers 'A' AND 'B' AND 'C'.
Business Example: On a wholesale application form, you could show the "Upload Resale Certificate" field only if the user selects "Business Type: Retailer" AND "Annual Revenue: Over $50,000".
OR Logic: For Flexible Grouping
The OR operator requires just one of the specified conditions to be met. This is ideal for grouping related options or categories together.
How it works: Show this field if the user answers 'A' OR 'B' OR 'C'.
Business Example: On a customer support form, you could display an "Urgent Support" phone number if a user selects their reason for contact as "Billing Issue" OR "Shipping Error".
Real-World Use Cases for Your Business
Advanced Conditional Logic isn't just a technical feature, it's a tool to drive real business results. Here’s what you can build:
1. Product Recommendation Quizzes
Guide customers to their perfect product and boost your conversion rate. By asking a series of questions, you can use AND logic to reveal the ideal recommendation.
-
Example: The Hiking Backpack Finder You can build an interactive quiz just like this one.
-
Question 1: "What type of hikes do you mostly do?" (e.g., Day hikes, Multi-Day treks, etc.)
-
Question 2: "What's the climate you usually hike in?" (e.g., Cold & windy, Hot & dry, etc.)
-
Logic: IF Trip Type is "Day hike" AND Hiking Climate is "Hot & dry", THEN show the "Compact 15L Daypack" as the recommended product.
-

2. Dynamic Quote & Service Forms
Create a smooth and intuitive process for customers personalizing products, only showing options when they're needed..
-
Example: On a jewelry store’s order form, display the "Enter Your Engraving Text" field IF the user checks the "Add Personal Engraving" box OR selects a "Monogram Style" font from a dropdown.
3. Targeted Upsells & Promotions
Present the right offers to the right customers at the right time. Hide promotions from users who don't qualify to create a cleaner experience.
-
Example: On a t-shirt order form, you could show a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" offer IF T-Shirt Quantity is "2" AND Customer Type is "New Customer".
The Bottom Line: Smarter Forms, Better Business
By implementing Advanced Conditional Logic, you can:
Increase Form Completion Rates: Shorter, relevant forms feel less intimidating and are easier to finish.
Collect Higher-Quality Data: Stop wasting time with irrelevant answers and get the exact information you need.
Improve the Customer Experience: Impress users with a professional, intelligent form that feels like it was built just for them.
