Today, we’re thrilled to announce two major updates to the Hulk Product Options app: Variant-Based Conditional Logic and Shopify POS Compatibility.

Variant-Based Conditional Logic: Precision Personalization

In the past, conditional logic was mostly limited to "option-level" rules (e.g., if a customer selects "Gift Wrap," show a "Personal Message" field). While helpful, it didn't always account for the specific Shopify Variant, like size, material, or color, selected at the top of the page.

What’s New:

You can now trigger custom options based on the specific variant a customer chooses.

  • The "Premium" Trigger: If a customer selects your "Premium" variant, you can automatically show an "Extended Warranty" option. If they choose the "Standard" version, that option stays hidden.
  • Targeted Personalization: Only show "Custom Monogramming" for leather goods, while keeping the interface clean for your canvas products.

The Impact: By showing only what is relevant to the specific product version in the cart, you reduce "decision fatigue." This leads to a cleaner UI, a more personalized feel, and higher conversion rates.

Shopify POS Compatibility: Omni-channel Customization

The Shopify POS integration is currently an Enterprise Plan feature. It is designed for high-volume merchants who need a seamless, professional experience across both digital and physical storefronts.

Will my variant-based rules work automatically if I change my theme?

Our logic depends on your theme’s variant selector. Most standard Shopify themes work perfectly, but if you use a highly customized theme, our support team can help ensure the logic triggers correctly.

What happens if I delete a variant that is tied to a condition?

If a variant is deleted from your Shopify admin, the rule will stay in the app but will stop functioning. We recommend manually updating your conditional logic rules whenever you make major changes to your product variants.

Can I use POS to sell items with "File Upload" or "Font Picker" options?

Due to limitations within the Shopify POS platform, certain advanced fields like File Uploads and Font Pickers are not supported in-store. Most standard options like dropdowns, checkboxes, and text inputs work perfectly.

Does the variant-based logic work for all products at once?

Variant-based rules are tied to specific Variant IDs. This means you can create highly specific rules for "Product A," and they won't accidentally affect "Product B," even if they share similar variant names like "Large" or "Red."
